Echo out 4 decks in native mode?
Posted on: 15.04.2011 by Joannie Brague
Hey Guys,

Starting to get my S4 up and running. I want to add an echo out button for all 4 decks in the native mode. Was believeing of using the loops in and out. Don't use those too much.

Ideally the Cue buttons would be the best. Nice big LEDs, each one on top of it's respective deck, etc. But those buttons are more valuable for loop recorder and of course to cue headphones.

Any ideas. Was believeing of using the encorder pushbuttons for the gain, but even with the gain encoder disabled mappings the push button is set to hold for some reason. In other words it won't toggle. It just stays on when I hold the button.

Any ideas?

thanks big.

I've been debating mapping it from scratch. Sounds so daunting.

I might just focus on a midi mode layer that is all for transition effects and the beatslicer sampler mode like the MF.
I've considered doing the same, but I love the loops displays too much

An FX MIDI layer is my next project, I'm almost done with the X1 track/sample deck full mapping.

I saw one telly posted on traktor freaks, maybe that would be a good starting point for an all in user mapping. I've been giving it serious thought....I wonder how hard the led meters would be to map? Oof...makes me consider my x1 again, its an additional piece of gear but way less of a mapping evening mare.

Got the echo out working.

So far only for decks A/B - no led feedback - Working on that part

I haven't managed to be able to trick the S4 into overwriting the Loop in command. So therefore I haven't been able to map decks C/D because if I hit loop out, i'm pretty much screwed because it will enable a loop.

Tried playing around with some modifiers, but no real luck.

Have any of you managed to trick the S4 into overwriting the native command?

ha. moar..

i try and keep my gear limited. i use a launchpad that works as 4 midifighters. but i always try and get one controller to do everything i want, in case i just want to practice at home, don't really want to plug in all the gear.

i'll keep working on it and keep you posted

I was believeing about this also... an option may be to add another modifier to the loop section that acts as a shift for each button. This was you can have a literal layout of your decks.

Option B is to use the regular effect section and when you press the "Mode" button it will switch to your advanced effect section with the delay. The only issue is to access unit 3 & 4 you will need to press the Deck C/D buttons to use them.

Option C is to use our X1's and make a super dope S4 companion.

Maybe use the looprecorder buttons for echo out Instead of superknob. And then use the fx buttons as the presets for the superknobs. You can use the button under d/w in chained mode as a toggle modifier and have it flash when toggled. This should give u some toggle options to use those buttons to control on off for effects. Or toggle to superknob presets.
