What I hate about you.(how would you change the s4?) Posted on: 15.05.2011 by Kristin Tesfamichael k so I got my s4 last week and i love this little thing, but its not perfect. So it got me believeing about what I would change to make it a better controller here's what I came up with: 1. Better Pitch Faders or at least put a center indent thing in them. 2. I wish the volume faders would't feel so damn cheap. 3. If only the gain knobs could have been like the eq knobs oh and relative mode on them too 4. better sound card any ways what are some features you wish NI would have put into the S4? | |

Karolis Petrauskas 15.05.2011 | I'd change: - the gain knobs to be a regular knob - make the effects buttons more like the x1 - allow full mapping abilities of the effects areas - allow full mapping abilities of the loop recorder area - allow for better effect unit assignments in 4 deck mode. - allow for an a b c d mapping instead of c a b d in the channel faders. This would allow for a more seamless transition if using x1's - I'd also like it to cook my breakfast and make my bed. Edit: this is not an improvement but more of a gear request. I'd like an additional standalone deck with a jog wheel for true 3 or 4 deck mixing. 3 decks would be great for me. |
Nedra Fresneda 15.05.2011 | Micro buttons for the FX units. Why NI? X1 rubbered ones do such a better job |
Lisa Lochotzki 15.05.2011 | Oh cool, genital mixing skillz |
Kristian Buneta 15.05.2011 | You guys clearly have yet to have mastered your beasts. PS the faders are the farthest thing from cheap. I beat them harder than my schlong. |
Len Lukawski 15.05.2011 | Until it makes a proper bacon sandwich it will always be just a digital controller to me. |
Preston Wootton 15.05.2011 | I still haven't bought the s4, I still have a Vestax vci - 100se. I would like the s4 build to be more like the vci but have full 100mm pitch faders, and bigger jog wheels. But if you believe this build is bad then you should see the pioneer's build. If there is not a new mapping for Traktor 2 on vci I will buy the s4. |
Julissa Serrone 15.05.2011 | I have and S4 and an NS7. The S4 is feature rich, tons of great stuff......and the NS7 is pretty bare boned. The "feel" of the NS7 is MUCH better. Just feels like real hardware, makes for a funner time playing. When I jump on the S4 I have all these neat tools, and features, but the actual S4 feels cheap in comparison. Wish it had a tad better construction. In general I believe the the knobs, faders, buttons, all feel great..but the jogs are tiny, the center plastic portion looks cheezy, its a tad crammed, pitch faders are also very small, etc. ....yeah and still not sold 100% on the soundcard |
Leeanna Ayla 15.05.2011 | I like the volume faders and I believe what you really want are better soundcard drivers better able to handle the plethora of multiple configuration scenarios in the PC world. I'm not a big fan of the glossy either though and I REALLY want them to open up the NHL mapping to let us tell knobs that they're buttons in the mapping. |
Merilyn Sellards 15.05.2011 | oh, understood perhaps this was designed in accordance to all the led lighting in the fader section (maybe for transparency options?)but sure there are other ways |
Merilyn Sellards 15.05.2011 | to add on the looks and feel, the glossy plastic center part was totally retarded, it gets all greasy/scratched and smugged with fingerprints... I thought people would finally undertsand that this is not a good surface for heavy duty gear . Anyway, all metal cover please and matte or perhaps the trademark brushed metal on other products I have more but for now this is what I could write |
