MacBook Pro for S4
MacBook Pro for S4 Posted on: 27.06.2011 by Albertina Blau Hi guys I am going to buy traktor s4 and macbook pro. I was believeing about buying this MacBook Pro 15" Quad-Core i7 2.0GHz , but I heard that there are some issues with quad core processors and s4/traktor pro 2. Is this true and is this mbp good enough to run traktor pro 2 and s4 with all 4 decks and effects without any problems? Thanks in advance! | |
Laurene Kestin 28.06.2011 | I'd wait to see what the new airs have to offer shortly. I've got a 15' I7, and yeah its a cracking laptop but add it up. An I7 will cost |

Sharyn Prado 08.07.2011 | Argh! All this macbook talk is making me jealous... why did I settle for a dell xps :/ |
Maxwell Bonifas 07.07.2011 | i have one too can run 4 decks s4 no problems I also run maschine at the same time too all fine |
Dj Tykarma 29.06.2011 | I'm also hesitating a lot between a MBP and one of the upcoming Sandy Bridge Airs. My hesitation is on the following specs : - Screen-size / resolution and GPU performance - CPU performance on the near term with Traktor Pro 3, 4... - If there's still no 512GB SSD model. I lost hope that Apple releases the god's laptop, a MacBook Air 15 inch with a good CPU, a true GPU and at least 512GB of SSD storage I currently have a MacBook Black 2.2Ghz of I believe late 2007... and it's usable until I try connecting my Technics 1200S on my S4 for vynil control... BTW, if it's true, it's a shame that Traktor requires dual core CPUs to work then not even uses the second core ! They should split Decks A+C handling on core 1 and Decks B+D on core 2 or one core handling each Deck on Quad-core CPUS. |
Halley Wurzer 29.06.2011 | In response to the airs, I run 2.0.2 on my 3 year old first gen ssd air without problems until it gets hot. If I am in a hot environment DJing for a while, the waveforms start to run a little jerky and I am forced to lay off effects and keylock til it cools back down. I am also wondering if the new airs will be fine or if I should get a pro. I really like the air much more. One thing to note is mine has lighted keys and the current ones dont. This is a feature I would really miss. |
Carson Cadieux 29.06.2011 | I purchased the S4 recently and at the same time got the 15" MBP 2.3 GHZ. The setup has been rock solid with not one problem. Just run all the updates before you get going. The 2.0GHZ will run just as well. |

Albertina Blau 27.06.2011 | Thanks guys on all these answers I really appreciate. You are really good community! |
Nedra Fresneda 27.06.2011 | send monitor state tells Traktor to update EVERY led on the controller, Windows doesn't give a lot of priority to audio processing (before tweaking) so when a bottleneck happened >>> audio dropout. Back on topic: you should do well with that lappy, I'm running it flawless with minimal latency with a C2D @ 2.26. |
Tatum Ansaldo 27.06.2011 | Just a tad over my head hehe. I kinda know what sensd monitor state is, but don't know why there was a problem with PCs. |

Nedra Fresneda 27.06.2011 | Well, they split the midi and audio processes, so I guess it's a step forward in that direction. |
Tatum Ansaldo 27.06.2011 | I believe 10.6.8 is the OSX equivalent of Traktor Pro 1.2.7, the final version with as many bugs fixed as possible and ultra stable so they can stop work on that for good and concetrate on Lion (10.7). It does seem surprising that Traktor cannot utilise multiple cores (it only ever uses 1), but apparently that's something they're working on. |

Leeanna Ayla 27.06.2011 | Just to clarify this was an Apple issue not an NI issue. It sounds like Apple fixed the issue promptly though. |

Tatum Ansaldo 27.06.2011 | I believe there was a minor bug with them that got fixed with an update about a week after release. |
Albertina Blau 27.06.2011 | I also made topic on NI community , and they told that only problem with mbp 2011 is heating issue and they believe it is fixed, so I am asking you if anyone had those heating issues and how to solve it? |

Nick Ross 27.06.2011 | I have one. It works fine. |
Leeanna Ayla 27.06.2011 | It'll be fine although Traktor doesn't utilize the quad core. |
Tatum Ansaldo 27.06.2011 | That'll be more than fine. |
