Alternative carry solution _ DIRT CHEAP ! Posted on: 14.07.2011 by Faustino Stringfellow I travel to DJ by plane quite often, sometimes 4 times a month, so i have had the problem of taking gear
through customs, nazi/ryanair like luggage restrictions etc.So i did a bit of research into bags and tings ... Firstly the S4 needs a sleeve like any notebook .. I found a fantastic thing on eBay, there's a bloke in the UK making padded sleeves for | |

To make it 10Kg, just wear the headphones on your neck .... sorted. Be careful with Ryanair though, many a time they let you leave the country unchecked, but ALWAYS check when you return ... don't guess with them, thery are manic about weight and dimentions ... |

When i try to slide my S4 into the sleeve it becomes obvious that this is an EXTREMELY tight fit. So much so that the S4 doesnt just simply slide in and out (this may get easier with time). There is a little tugging and pushing required - this worries me slightly as there is sure to be a certain amount of pressure placed on the faders during this process!!! Once in the sleeve though it feels nice and snug and there is NO movement within the sleeve once the s4 is in. It also feels like its providing a fair amount of protection and padding when its all sealed up. Nice and sturdy!! Those of you with the Gator bag will be pleased to know that the S4 and sleeve fit perfectly into the bag. I have pictures but i will post them in this thread: http://www.djranking s.com/community /showthread.php?t=18898 |
Saturnina Guminski 20.07.2011 | Great cost effective solution, thanks for the info! |
Kesha Orde 18.07.2011 | I saw those blue sleeves a while back but wasn't sure if they were any good. What (if any) padding do they provide? |
Jutta Tradre 18.07.2011 | Thanks Kooper.. I just placed my order for the Gator bag |
Kristofer Krauel 18.07.2011 | DJTT store seems to be suffering from a cash flow problem (hence the blog post a few weeks back asking for investment) so all their resources seem to be going into the new midi-fighters which means other products are being pushed to the side lines. Their bags will be back in stock eventually but i wouldnt expect it to be any time soon. I would give up on your trusty box and buy either the bag in the OP's first post or the Gator bag. |
Jutta Tradre 18.07.2011 | Thank you for this!!.. I have to travel in 2 weeks and I have been waiting for DJTT to start selling their S4 bag but at this point with their date changes, im giving up... Ive been carrying my S4 around in its original box which is almost broken now. |

Kristofer Krauel 18.07.2011 | What's the weight like with all that in. I'm flying with Ryanair on Sunday and their weight allowance for hand luggage is 10kg. |

I have to take into account that baggage handling in all European airports is haphazzard, it damages everything that they handle and has a VERY strong chance of getting your S4 sent to another destination. Kristofer Krauel 18.07.2011 | Expecting this tomorrow so I'll get you some pics. Used the gator bag yesterday to take my gear round a mates house. S4, midi-fighter, headphones, 2 USB cables, power cable for s4, external hard drive and a bunch of other cables (RCA's etc). All fit just fine with room to spare. Unfortunately I have a 17 inch laptop and the laptop specific compartment is for 15 inch max. This isn't a concern for me though as I have a carry sleeve for my laptop which is more than sufficient. However, if I did have a 15 inch laptop it would fit in the bag without any fuss even with all my other gear. |

Julianna Riecken 17.07.2011 | I posted that sleeve thing in the "what to carry it in" thread so doubt he's the eBay account holder, Looks a good option, believeing of getting that and the gator bag |
Dana Ordinario 17.07.2011 | Thanks for the update about the sleeve I may be picking up an s4 very shortly. @FKR I highly doubt he holds either of those eBay accounts. This would be a very elaborate ruse just to try to sell us some stuff on eBay. I mean believe about it. Make an account on dj message board. Hang around for a year or so. Gain the cred I need to sell them my wares. Seems a bit silly. |
Harmony Stache 16.07.2011 | solution not very good. IMO -I believe for the money I'd rather just get an oakley bag s4 was close to a g bone. but good luck with your sales ! |
Maxwell Bonifas 16.07.2011 | nice one believe ill get one of these bags well cheap. I do love the traktor flight case but its just a bit heavy cheers m8. |
Christal Jonason 14.07.2011 | thkssss |
