Tracks getting "stuck" and looping options Posted on: 09.07.2011 by Valarie Brunot Hi Everyone,I have been using the s4 for about 6 months now, and mostly have nothing but positive things to say about it. I have run into a few issues though and have a couple of questions I'm hoping someone can help answer. -Sometimes a track won't play and I have to "push" the jog wheel to get it going. This is a pain and sometimes takes a few tries. I notice that when I press the "search" button, the track may start to play, but when I exit the search screen it stops. Is this some sort of glitch, or is this some setting I can turn off? -I'd like to be able to toggle the "loop active" button on the s4... I can turn loops off by pressing in the loop wheel, but I can't turn them on without the loop wheel placing a loop whenever I press it. Is there a setting where I can change this? Thanks in advance for the help making this awesome controller all the more awesome! -Ryan | |
Tina Sereal 02.08.2011 | I've had the same problem recently, and it's messed up a few of my sets. If I am able to get it working again, I just do what this guy did:

Rey Holubar 31.07.2011 | That is exactly what I thought too and was also short of wanting to return my S4. I would press the cue button for Deck A and the whole deck would just stop, as if I was pressing the top of the jog wheel. I recalibrated the jog wheels. No help. I updated the software (as 2.0.2 had just came out). No help. Then I noticed the newer version (not sure if it was 2.0.3 or 2) had this new analyzer. I started working with it and did tweaking with it, then bam, the issue was gone. If you get a replacement S4 and the issue is actually in the USB communication, then you will have the same issue with the new S4 too. scamo |
Neville Blackinton 30.07.2011 | Thanks for the suggestions but it's all good. I'm sending it in next week and getting it replaced. If it was just an audio crackle or something I would dig deeper into latency and USB buffers. This is a short or something wrong with the S4 itself. I was literally pressing on the S4 and it was stopping the track. It should never do that. |
Rey Holubar 29.07.2011 | Yes, but my tip is to raise the latency until the glitch stops. And I believe the change that did the trick was the USB buffer. I raised it and the issue was gone. Did you try playing with the latency analyzer built into the newer TP2 software? That is what helped me too. If you have to make adjustments, which raise the latency so high the performance of the S4 suffers, then you either still have an issue with your computer or it is simply too slow to take care of the "Traktor Pro 2/ S4" job. Make sure you also have the most up-to-date software and drivers, as there is definitely a performance boost in them. scamo |

Neville Blackinton 27.07.2011 | I recalibrated under TS4 1.0.1 and the freezing decks issue has gone away. However I'm still experiencing a glitch and finally made a movie of it for NI support. And like the TS, outside of this issue I have nothing but positive things to say about my S4. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZVFXI9BGypk I just wanted to put this out there to support the other people who are experiencing similar problems. |
Keely Gallus 24.07.2011 | you have to hot cue loops to turn them on from a different location, if that's what you're asking |

Keely Gallus 24.07.2011 | yeah my tracks get stuck, I never know how it starts and how it ends, I just start flailing and it all works eventually. |
Ignacio Rutner 24.07.2011 | I found that pressing and holding the LOAD button released the track on occasion. Still happens in 2.03 - not good |
Valarie Brunot 17.07.2011 | I got the software update and that fixed the problems, thanks for the help. |
Ignacio Rutner 13.07.2011 | I had it too only recently. |
Neville Blackinton 12.07.2011 | The tracks getting stuck is a relatively new issue that I believe came with TP2.0.3 I never experienced it prior, but have experienced it a few times since I upgraded. It's random and it sucks! |
Charline Dye 12.07.2011 | Maybe recalibrate the jogs? |
Valarie Brunot 12.07.2011 | Anyone... no one has has experienced anything like this? Any help would be appreciated, thanks. -Ryan |
