Is my laptop too slow?
Is my laptop too slow? Posted on: 20.08.2011 by Lakeesha Ellicott Hey, i've had the kontrol s4 for a couple months now and so far i've just been running it through the ASIO4ALL driver and having the sound run through my laptop out via auxiliary to receiver.. it's great and all for messing around but with this option i can't use my headphones because it's not running through the proper driver (which give's alot of problems)..When i play my s4 through the traktor s4 driver in audio setup, i get alot of crackles, drop outs, sometimes the track doesn't even start and the tracks usually just crash and stop working all together. I use a sony VIAO laptop with a 1.73ghz quad core, 4g ram, running on a 64-bit windows 7. I had a notion that a quad core could run this software/hardware, but i'm starting to lean towards finding a faster speed dual core macbook.. but i can't afford one right now so i'm wondering, is there anything i can do to get my sony viao to run the s4 on traktor s4 driver without latency problems? i have tons and tons of gigs of music, some random programs and games that take up alot of space, should i be uninstalling and cleaning my pc up? I'm new to all of this optimizing so any feedback would be great, thanks. | |

Len Lukawski 20.08.2011 | Make a donation to my favorite charity and I'll help you sort this out. |
Charline Dye 20.08.2011 | Smittens script from the blog article should help also. |
Harley Zitka 20.08.2011 | First things to check: Make sure you have the most recent version of Traktor (2.0.3) Install the latest driver for Windows (3.0.0 I believe) DISABLE WIFI. If problems persist, then follow the Windows optimization guide on NI's website. |
Lakeesha Ellicott 20.08.2011 | I got the sample rate at 44100hz, process buffer 256. the Processing is at 5.8ms, output at 4.6ms, and overall 10.4ms. |
