S4 Basics/Guides? Total N00b here
Posted on: 29.08.2011 by Doyle Dally
Ok so I'm totally new to Traktor, S4, and DJing. I know a thing or two but I'm not that great, I can at least mix tracks once they end or after some drops, etc. I have most of the basics down. I'm still in a confused state with mixed feelings about the FX, Loop, Samples and all them knobs & buttons. Are there any guides around? I have alot of desire to advance and get really good, but without proper coaching I feel stuck. I can put the time in, I just can't put the time in without knowing how to setup stuff and how everything works. Help? I'd really appreciate if someone pointed me in the right direction.

You can find it in the directory where Traktor was installed, or you can access it within the program. You could probably also find it on the NI site.

There's a lot more in the manual than the setup manual provides.
Thanks for pointing that out!

You need this and you need to read the manual.

I recommend you to hook up with a another S4-user and start practising together. This will inspire and force you to experiment with the S4. I would also recommend you to find the right tracks for FX, loops, beat juggle, etc.

Try Native's 3 video series explaining the S4 or get Ean's DVD

One thing I've found on the internet is you won't get a lot of help unless you are specific...

You can't just be like "teach me!" and expect us to go over everything
