LED knobs for the s4??
LED knobs for the s4?? Posted on: 15.09.2011 by Adelina Aidala Hey folks, I recently purchased an s4 and love it except for the fact that I just cannot get my head around the fact that they didn't light the EQ knobs (like is the case with the VMS4 e.g.). In this price range and with all the flashy LED's going on it surely could have been done! In dark surroundings (and after a few beers) it can be challenging to find the EQ knob of the right channel.. their position can be felt with the fingertips tho. So, my question is, has anyone found a nice solution for this problem? One possibility would be to install UV-fluorescent knobs like on the Allen&Heath mixers, or maybe some strip of LED lights mounted closely next to the channel strips.. As for the UV buttons, does anyone know if fitting ones do exist? Same question goes for LED strips.. Thanks in avance. | |

Kecia Wnukowski 16.09.2011 | They usually have ones, well you're right, don't knwo. 100% sure the ones form djs face/sold by DJ ranking s (if you can find some) do have one. |
Adelina Aidala 16.09.2011 | I'm referring to the little plastic indicator on the knobs which tells you how far the knob is cranked up.. the one you can feel with ur fingertips. would be a shame if another knob didnt have it.. anyways thx for ur replies |

Using entirely different knobs could mean losing the physical position indication on the original knobs that I like

Rosina Steinkuehler 16.09.2011 | Here is a photo of no LED lighting at all: http://twitpic.com/6lb3pc And with the USB LED lit up: http://twitpic.com/6lb3mj It might be a bit hard to make out but with the USB LED I can at least see where the knobs are and tell what is what. If you had 2 of the these it would be pretty well lit up in complete darkness. Hope this helps! |
Adelina Aidala 15.09.2011 | That would be very kind of you, thanks! |
Rosina Steinkuehler 15.09.2011 | The USB lights are not very bright at all - just enough light to see what you are doing. I'll take a picture of mine in darkness here later today (my area is lit up with sunlight right now). |
Adelina Aidala 15.09.2011 | Thx for the quick replies.. Using entirely different knobs could mean losing the physical position indication on the original knobs that I like, a USB LED lamp would be cool but I'm afraid it might be a tad too bright - I believe fluorescent stickers could be the trick! Just to find fitting ones will be tough.. |
Kecia Wnukowski 15.09.2011 | - The coloured knobs from djs face could fit the unit - You can paint a small line with some fluorescent paint or silver paint, or do like Vangogo and use a stripe of fluorescent thingie - The suggestion above ? what else? |
Rosina Steinkuehler 15.09.2011 | If you have an extra USB port you could go the low tech route: http://www.believegeek.com/computing/accessories/5a84/ |
