Roland TR 909 - $2,500 - San Francisco
(SOLD)(SOLD)

Parting with my 909. I bought it as a fanboy in the early 2000's. Occasionally linked it to my 303, but other than that I've simply held onto it as a nostalgic keepsake. I don't even produce music. Looking to put it towards DJ gear that I'll use more often than once a decade.

Included
You'll be getting the 909, two-prong power cord and memory cartridge. If you like I can throw in the Steely Dan drum programming guide the original owner included for me...

Overall condition:
  • Aesthetically it's near-flawless. About as good as good as 27 year old out-of-box product could be
  • Functionally everything is sound bar:

    • one temperamental pot. I honestly don't remember which one and don't have my old DJ headphones handy. I believe it's one of the cymbal's volume control. It'll run at whatever volume you set, but if bumped it'll briefly spike to max volume

    • The cheap plastic battery "cradle" came snapped. Not sure who uses batteries, but I tested it once and simply used painter's tape to secure it. Works fine.

  • Negligible corrosion in the battery bay

A few 909 auctions ended this month fetching up to $2,970. I'd rank this as a modest 8.5/10, with 10 being flawless with the original box and packaging, and 9 being flawless without original accessories.

I try to keep classifieds local in general, so I'd prefer a San Franciscan but will consider shipping if it feels right. Eyeing some CDJs (1000 mk3, 900, 2000), so I'd consider a trade if local.
