Joie Cantillon 19.04.2011 | there must be drum and bass on the front page |
Joie Cantillon 17.04.2011 | Andrew, Thanks for the input as always. Much like all of my mixes I really feel like I'm emulating 2 TTs rather than using traktor's more interesting functions (cue points, interesting mix techniques) I almost feel like I'm not doing enough if that makes any sense. I wish someone would post a video up using drum and bass for all of these effect tricks that the house and electro set use so often... ...but maybe I'm worried about nothing, |
Marguerite Salsedo 17.04.2011 | Glad to provide feedback, Mike. No tricky stuff in this, just smooth and well done mixing with the occasional spicing of effects. Tracks were really interesting, a lot of stuff I haven't heard before. Very well done man, I really enjoyed this |
Joie Cantillon 17.04.2011 | Andrew, Thanks, looking forward to your input as always...figure the I'd go a bit outside my comfort zone and try something a bit off the liquid path |
Marguerite Salsedo 17.04.2011 | Will be giving this a listen later, I'll let you know what I believe man |
Nilda Eastgate 17.04.2011 | I don't no - Settled for a mixcloud instead :s http://www.mixcloud.com/conheeley/ |
Nilda Eastgate 17.04.2011 | Wow thanks so much fot he tips! Yeah I will make sure to swap the lows Im gonna have a good practise I need to have a good practise I reckon! I would love to be able to mix D&B as well as you Sometimes Im just really in the mood for it and usually satisfy my craving listening to somebody elses mix. Would be epic doing it myself But yeah I believe practise can solve anything really Thanks for the tips though! Much appreciated |
Joie Cantillon 17.04.2011 | and by the way conntrol do you happen to have a soundcloud acct? |
Joie Cantillon 17.04.2011 | No time taking or mix perfecting here sir, just good old fashioned hit the record button and see what happens... some little tips that I have learned since I started (about 8 months or so ago) 1) with respect to drum and bass, you really have to pay attention to where you mix in your highs and your lows. The highs are going to be your cymbals (which may be different enough from the incoming track to warrant mixing in, but may be close enough where the crossfader will be enough) but the lows because of some sort of sound engineering mumbo jumbo that I don't understand enough to explain, will almost always need to be "swapped" 2) again speaking of Drum and Bass one thing that I do (and did everytime in that mix) is make my drop of the incoming track happen when the drop of the outgoing track happens...it works pretty well every time for me 3) just have fun, oddly enough most of the 128 styles (house, trance, electro etc) give me a bit of trouble, so just keep on plugging away and you'll be amazed at how quickly you progress. |
Nilda Eastgate 17.04.2011 | Its ok and Its just so good! I thought you may have took your time and made it perfect I use traktor too. I havent really practised that much with D&B, i had a go a while back and found it a lot harder than mixing house (that may be because i'm not used to it? I Have done a few Dubstep mixes that sounded allright Just from timing it right But yeah your mix is brilliant! Im gonna go practise some D&B right now in fact! you have inspired me |
Joie Cantillon 17.04.2011 | Conntrol - Thanks for the input. No ableton here I just use traktor pro with a Kontrol X1 and a BCD3000. I'm curious though why would you believe I use Ableton |
Nilda Eastgate 17.04.2011 | Wow I love it ! What do you use for mixes? Ableton ? |
