Tyree Mccanney 12.05.2012 | Cheers man! Ceramics and dance music go hand in hand, it's a little known fact. Pleased to hear you enjoyed it despite not being all that into the genres covered, I love it when that happens during a mix and it's awesome to hear someone had that experience with one of mine! Know what you mean about letting tunes stand out on their own, maybe I need to look at which tunes I let play out on their own and which i mash up a bit more closely. |
Maxwell Zubke 10.05.2012 | Hey bro! listened to it today during my togei (ceramics) class. First and foremost, this type of music isnt really my style. Its hard for me to accurately judge what a good mix with this kind of music should sound like. That being said, I really enjoyed listening to it! There was some fantastic throwbacks to old tunes in there that made me super nostalgic. The music may not be my style - but I really felt like the mix as a whole was really excellent. I was particularly impressed that music that I am "not that into" could still rock my socks off. Very cohesive and flowed very well. My only complaint was that I heard a few tunes I would have liked to have heard by themselves. What I mean by that is they were mixed in with others (mixed well) but didn't have a chance for it to stand alone. I can give more detailed feedback if you would like once I have another chance to listen to it. Overall impression: really liked it! If your mix appeals to someone who is into very different styles of music - then you are doing something right, my friend. Keep it up. |

I dunno man, it feels like the step down in energy happens a bit too abruptly as those tracks are very different in vibe.. i tend to pick out a tune which i want to get to, then believe 2 or 3 songs ahead rather than always trying to fit it in straight away. it's quite a nice challenge too. The quickfire half hour mixtapes or hour long sets are a different kettle of fish, but when you're giving yourself that much time in a mix you might aswell take a bit of time to work through a progression? on a different note, i saw mosca again last evening and he absolutely killed it. best set i've seen from anyone in tiime! (and i've had a good few months of decent gigs) - definitely a guy to go see at any opportunity possible. Especially as he plays a jungle vip of tilt shift which obviously he's never played on radio or anything so it's never been leaked. just insane... |
Tyree Mccanney 05.05.2012 | Ahhhhhh see what you mean. It was the other way round in fairness, out of DJ Fresh into Blawan. But yeah I know what you mean, it probably wouldn't work in a club and it steps down the energy a bit. In answer to your first question, it was mixed internally in Traktor with 2 Midifighters and an X-Session Pro. Still trying to figure out how to record my external set up! |
Roni Batchan 02.05.2012 | nah man, i mean mixing a beautifully crafted limited vinyl only track like blawan's 'getting me down' into a big hands in the air electro track like Dj fresh and dizzee rascal - doesn't really work in my opinion. (vibe-wise) yeah man, i'm spending a lot of time in glasgow at the moment, that's where all that stuffs happening - it's insanely fun but yeh, i mean in terms of vibes, there's a lot of chopping between genres - which makes the energy feel a bit up and down and the mix generally not really cohesive. (i feel that may have been what the *sigh* was for) but generally good selection as i say, and the mixing sounds fine - keep at it |
Tyree Mccanney 02.05.2012 | Yeah Rustie put me on to Harvey Kartel through his Boiler room mix. Big fan of that sound! To be honest I like a cheeky chart spattering. I'd like to believe the remixes in there are still remixes of songs that were good in the first place (kanye & J, Del Ray, Gotye, even cisqo!) Cheers for the feedback! |
Roni Batchan 02.05.2012 | big up with the harvey kartel! he's my homeboy nice mix on the whole, good selection (other than the dubious chart spatterings...) what was it mixed on? |
Tyree Mccanney 02.05.2012 | *also sighs*... why are we sighing again? |
Georgina Schatzman 02.05.2012 | *sigh* |
Tyree Mccanney 02.05.2012 | Anyone got any comments on this? Would love some feedback |
Tyree Mccanney 29.04.2012 | Also, feedback welcome! And encouraged! |
