UK Garage Set - 1hr
UK Garage Set - 1hr Posted on: 06.01.2013 by Carisa Ridgel Click here to see it on Mixcloud Download from Mixcrate I thought I'd start new year with something refreshing so I dug into my collection and picked a variety of classic UKG tunes. Wanted to do this one for some time now, so it's definitely thrilling to finally put it out. No real theme or mood, the songs do a fantastic job of speaking for themselves, just having a blast of the time. UKG was definitely something more of a retroactive fascination for me and there is a great pleasure in finding things you love that you missed on before. I couldn't help but sprinkle some unique flavor into the song selection so along with several newer tracks and less typical sound the set ends in some stone cold classic dubstep tunes that pay respect to garage and 2 step gorgeously. Tracklist: Deep Trouble - Give Her One VA - Free Dido - Hunter (MJ Cole Remix) VA - Moving Too Fast VA - Liferide Camilla Brink - Tumbles (2 Step Remix) VA - To Be In Love VA - Walking Zero Robbie Craig - Lessons In Love VA - What Would We Do Amire - My Desire Damage - So What If I (Round Sound Vocal Mix) Y Tribe - Enough Is Enough Double 99 - Rip Groove Dahsheka Feat Mc Gremlin - Buttas Darkstar - Aidy's Girl Is A Computer Midevening Circus - Complicated Lojt - Chicken Cottage Darqwan - Friday At The Limit Central Dance - Mystery Ayklogic - Shine Sunship feat Charlise - 4 U 4 Me Future Underground Nation - It's The Way 3rd Core - Mindless And Broken Benga - Light Bulb Burial - Near Dark | |
Carisa Ridgel 26.01.2013 | Thanks for a listen and feedback, man, I really appreciate it, especially such details, wow! It's what I have in my library that I guess I personally identify with garage, you're so spot on about it being super cheesy. I really appreciate your feedback on mixing. I've noticed a lot of levels inconsistencies (argh, music coming coming from different sources is no excuse) when re-listening but your harmony comment is valuable, there was a bit of cramp in terms of start/end bits of tunes I have, your point just solidifies my suspicion that it was quite rough. Great feedback, love it. And thanks for honesty and specifics. Cheers, man!

My GF was there and she listened a bit too, so the below feedback reflects her opinion to some degree. - Thanks for the tracklist and download link! - It's fair to say that I don't like the tracks you chose, which probably means that I don't actually like vocal UK Garage. I thought it was excessive that every track had a vocal. Mostly very very cheesy vocals as well. The beats were not as actually dynamic as I expected a mix of UK Garage to be, but maybe I'm believeing of Speed Garage? In any case, not my taste in tracks. - In terms of mixing I thought that many of the transitions were kinda rough and/or abrupt. Some seemed to notably clash in terms of harmonic elements. A lot of tracks coming at you in quick succession. Levels were occasionally off. Thanks for posting and keep at it! |
