Reply to pops and crackles

Hi.
I wonder if mac os x 10.5.8 may be why I get pops and crackle? Otherwise, the macbook is 2.4 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo and 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3.

Is there anyone using 10.5.8 with no problems with VESTAX VCI-400? I do not get pops and crackle with my S4.
