Reply to modding a midifighter for a hardware live pa rig?

hi, all!

i'm a total DIY noob, so bear with me here.

i've been having a blast playing with my midifighters, and a friend of mine posed an interesting idea the other day... would it be possible to mod a midifighter so that it used a MIDI out instead of a usb out? or is that more of a start over from scratch type scenario?

the idea here would be to use a midifighter to control hardware synths or drum triggers. any ideas?
