Advice wanted on whether/which MF to get Hi Everyone, I know it's a common question of whether one should get a midi fighter, so I hope you won't mind me asking for some opinions on whether it would fit my particular scenario and what, if anything, I should get. Music Type: EDM and all its sibling genres, Mashups. Current Controllers: S4, Nanopad, Nanokontrol I don't care about price, but I care deeply about intuitiveness+utility, and value I find the s4 is fantastic for me in terms of track control, cueing, and mixing. I can do basic fx with it but managing complex effects is a bit cumbersome. Additionally, it requires way too many button presses to go from synced, quantized cue point triggering to freestyle beat juggling and back (I would ideally like to be able to do each on separate controllers, without manually changing modes) I would really like the ability to quickly mash a loop (as in the MF beat masher effect). I also heard the MF can beat juggle easily, but I'm not sure what the sonic difference is between triggering various beats from a loop and beat juggling on the fly. I would also like extensive and natural control of effects so I can do quick fills and create buildups on the fly. I've looked at many of the mappings and believe that the beat masher MF pro looked great, though I'd want to replace the redundant controls for play/tempo/pitch and such with useful fx (not sure how hard that would be to do - I'm a developer so I'm comfortable scripting things but traktor's weird flag-based mapping editor looked amazingly kludgy, so I'd rather pay for something like the MF rather than spend 20+ hours making my own mapping for another device). Also, I'd really like to avoid losing all the S4 fx control power, and it looked like most MF mappings might mess with all 4 fx sections so much that the whole s4 fx section would be useless. Any advice on what I should get to help me achieve these goals would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! | |
