bottom row of MF classic all send the same midi signal, not working correctly Posted on: 29.01.2012 by Maile Dekerlegand Hi there,I have a midi fighter classic (#1930) that has worked perfectly up until this morning. The bottom row of buttons now send all the same midi message 3/B0 in normal mode and 3/B1, 3/B2, 3B/3 in four banks mode. I have tested this in TP2 and Ableton with the same results. Have tried updating the firmware but it seems that I have the latest and the fact it is showing in normal and 4banks mode suggests there is some hardware thing going on. I was using it last evening with no probs in Ableton triggering samples, went to bed, woke up tried it again and now its not working properly. What can I do? | |

Adolf Hit 31.01.2012 | Yeah we will send a replacement PCB, as Will said it is dead easy to replace. No soldering required, it all snaps & screws together. |
Ella Rick 31.01.2012 | It's dead easy to strip down and re build, about five minutes All you will need is a Allen key to unscrew the top four screws and the four screws on the bottom of the MF There is a video on the DJTT shop somewhere that shows you how to build a MF that should give you a good idea on how to strip it down |
Maile Dekerlegand 31.01.2012 | what is involved to install the replacement PCB? |
Ella Rick 31.01.2012 | If it is a hardware problem they will send you a replacement pcb board. |
Maile Dekerlegand 31.01.2012 | thanks Mike, I have submitted a support request pointing them to this URL... am now waiting... That being said, i'm not terribly savvy with electronicsy stuff... when you say that new component are you suggesting that I will need to do some soldering etc? or is it going to be easier to send it back? (i'm located in the europe, NL) |
Adolf Hit 30.01.2012 | Hey Scooter, Im sorry to hear about your woes! It sounds like a hardware problem to me, get in contact with support to arrange a replacement PCB. You can let them know I recommended replacement. Cheers, Mike |
Maile Dekerlegand 30.01.2012 | So I have used that guide to use the red switch method to enter boot mode. The MF utility sees the MF and says it has the nov 2011 firmware. I can press 'update' and it goes through the steps all green up until the third last and second last steps: GREEN... GREEN ...GREEN RED cleaning up ORANGE failed to release USB device GREEN success! Now in both TSP2 and Ableton I can see 'Midi Fighter Classic' as a midi device (before when it was working it had some other name) but neither show any incoming midi signals! In TSP2 I have the IGF mapping with all the in's and out's set to 'Midi Fighter Classic'. In Ableton I have the preferences-midi ports 'Track' and 'Remote' set to 'on'. I have tried entering boot mode using the red buttons, finding the device (i'm running Win 7 Home 64bit BTW) driver and deleting it. When I plug it back in again it says it downloads and succesfully configures it. I have also tried to 'update driver' and it tells me that windows already has the correct driver. mega -sigh- and god damn, its a nice looking brick now, at least last evening 3/4 of the buttons worked... any one with any thoughts?... condolencies? |

Leighann Kashat 30.01.2012 | hey there! Try reflashing it with either the MF updater tool or do a manual reflash by following the tutorial that can be found on this community |
