A producer starts djing (split cue problem) Posted on: 01.10.2012 by Sheldon Cisternino Hello! It's time for me to start djing, and I already got VCI-400 EGE. Focusrite Saffire Pro 24 DSP is my soundcard. I want to be able to use my headphones and speakers at the same time, but i can't get the setup right. I know there are several threads about this out there, but I just can't get it to sound right. . 2.JPG1.JPGAny ideas? Big thanks! | |
Sheldon Cisternino 03.10.2012 | This doesn't make any sense. What do you route in Traktor? These are the choises I have in Traktor: focusrite dsp.JPG Also, I only have "daw-options" up to 8. daw.JPG |
Sheldon Cisternino 01.10.2012 | DirtyNerd: Because I don't want to change my monitorcables all the time (from producing to djing). Capture.JPG |

Sheldon Cisternino 12.10.2012 | Is it possible to load some effects and use them with some of the loop/cue/slicer/grafity/grid buttons? To make the transitions more smooth with crashes and sweeps etc. Edit: I found out |
Nedra Fresneda 10.10.2012 | No worries mate |
Sheldon Cisternino 10.10.2012 | ah, anyway - thank you all for the help! |
Nedra Fresneda 10.10.2012 | Traktor doesn't support split monitoring. |
Sheldon Cisternino 10.10.2012 | I believe it's right now, but It's just a mess in the headphones. Is it possible to get one track at one side and one track at the other? Like Deck A on the left and Deck B on the right. |
Celine Surico 03.10.2012 | Yes unfortunately the Saffire drivers label DAW as Mon with receiving targets so you need to just believe about the numbers, 1 and 2, DAW 1/2 and Mon 1/2. |
Nedra Fresneda 03.10.2012 | Use DAW 1-2 for Monitor Output 1-2 and DAW 3-4 for Line Output 3-4. That's the way I have it set on my 14, it translates perfectly into any Saffire. Read the MixControl's manual when you have a spare min, you'll learn how to do advanced routings and mixing on the soundcard. |

Celine Surico 03.10.2012 | I usually set monitor to DAW 1 / DAW 2 and line monitoring (the headphone icon in Saffire MixControl) to DAW 8 / DAW 9. Then I route those in Traktor to respective output for direct and cue. |
Nedra Fresneda 03.10.2012 | Don't have my saffire with me so can't open it's mixer. @calgarac: the buttons are for dim and mute functions in the DSP model, the regular 24 doesn't have any. |
Sheldon Cisternino 03.10.2012 | I have no clue. |
Stanley Topoleski 01.10.2012 | there is a little button on the saffire just under the headphone port to put it on 1/2 or 3/4 |
Sheldon Cisternino 01.10.2012 | Can you tell me exactly what to do? I haven't done this before at all |
Nedra Fresneda 01.10.2012 | Your problem is all your outs are spitting Mix1, you need to reassign them. |

Nedra Fresneda 01.10.2012 | Post a screen cap of your soundcard's routing settings (Saffire MixControl) |
Leota Dolney 01.10.2012 | Just curious...but why don't you use the sound card on the VCI-400? Anyway, check that you are using the right outputs for monitor and main mix...I may be wrong, but I believe the saffire pro 24 uses outputs 3/4 for the headphone out...so in essence you may have your output routing backwards. try that. |
