I have no problems with using this program but I hear opposite from other.

I know others use Traktor Programs and Serato Programs, But what are the Opinions you have on VDJ?

Im looking forward to hearing from ya'll!

This right here is pretty much the best info in here.

VDJ have some incredible beat mashing and gating built in that no other program has.

Djing is 90% song choice anyways.

Hey guys! Thanks for all the feedback, I appreciate it! Ive use Traktor Several times and I dont mind it at all. I have it on my Laptop as well as VDJ, I just dont know how to map it to my Controller(DJ TECH 4MIX).

I understand yes VDJ does look armature but you can change the skins, which I dont have. Im surprised VDJ hasnt came out with a new version yet? hmmm.

In conclusion I am going to continue to use VDJ because it works with my controller, as for Traktor, I need to figure out how to map it. Honestly though, Id love to perform with Ableton and MIDI controllers.

thanks, Casey

lol true there are some great vst's around and "traktor's 12" or you can do some cunning audio+midi routing and just use traktor itself for fx to any other dj app

Nonsense, VDJ has VST support so the effects are infinitely better than Traktor's ;P

from what i've seen vdj is great and more customisable than traktor - but traktor has better effects...

Wouldn't say it's a bad a program, I believe it comes down to personal preference. You use whatever you tool you use to get the job done. Mind you, it would be a much better program if it didn't have the awful siren effect...all those mouse jockeys and noobs wouldn't know what to do with themselves if that was the case...

Nothing wrong with VDJ. I started on it back when it was beta in like 01. Dj's would give VDJ users crap because back then there was no midi controller. all you had was your mouse and a terrible keyboard mapping. So they were like wth is he checking his email or something lol. but times have changed. People that know understand VDJ is pretty powerful. It can support VST's was one of the first to do video. the effects are pretty good. the program is stable as well havn't really had it crash. but sadly with all this good stuff that Taboo is still there hence why most VDJ users move to Traktor and they would prob switch to serato if it wasn't hardware locked but yea like other guy said. it's not the software that make bad mixes its the dj.

Isn't VDJ a VST host? You could just use the Traktor VST in VDJ to get the same effects.

I should clarify. Although VDJ has more features, I personally feel that some in Traktor (effects especially) are more developed and sound better. I meant "developed" in the sense of feeling more refined.
Then again, this is all personal opinion. Maybe I feel this way because, although I use VDJ 30-40 hours a week, I've still been using Traktor for much longer and it's what I learned to mix in.

I disagree...

VDJ has more complex and better features but traktor has easier access and implementation of their more technical stuff... but both are not quite there in terms of the ultimate dj software, although honestly if you have the time to figure out how VDJ works IMO it is much closer than traktor purely because you can develop your own "workflow" and don't need to rely on the company creating functionality for you. Almost everything you could ever need is in the extensive midi, skin and plugin SDK's. And you get all the power of C++ for anything that is not natively provided.

I have been using VDJ for its music video and video cell capabilities 4 times a week, for the last year- No problems at all, easy to understand.
I've also been using Traktor for the last 4 years. I love Traktor.
I believe people give VDJ a bad rap especially because of its "skins".. makes it seem amateur maybe?

Either way, Traktor is more developed in its features imo

It's all preference and what you're comfortable with. I've been happily using VDJ for almost 7 years now! It's gotten a bad rap, I believe, because many people started digital djing on cracked versions of VDJ that didn't work well.

It's not so much about the software & hardware you use. It's all about what you do with it. Some people make music with rusty synths & drum machines, and it sounds better than some of the state-of-the-art hardware.

I personally use an S2 - Machine combination with Traktor. But if I had the possibility to go vinyl, I'd do it anytime! Traktor is awesome, but something just puts me off the digital side. Mostly went dear because of the lower cost.

As for VDJ, don't like it. The GUI puts me off...
