Just got an HP ENVY with 1TB HARD Drive
8 gb ram
i7 processor
windows 8
2.2 ghz with 3.2 ghz with turbo boost

will this be good to run traktor or serato on ?

just wondering if anyone has used this laptop

it was on sell for 600 on black friday, but i havent recieved it yet
i thought maybe i should return it when i received it, and get a mac book pro later.

I run traktor on an older Envy Beats edition, i5 processor w/ 8 gb of ram. I've had no problems except that traktor would occasionally freeze up if HP Coolsense was running at the same time, once I turned that off I've had no issues.

Intel i7 processors (especially 3rd gen) are great for running multiple and/or demanding applications. Does not matter so much what company assembled the laptop so much as the processor, ram, and hard-drive. Both windows and apple make great operating systems.

my mistake. I assumed from him saying "I got an HP ENVY" that he already had it, but you're right.

I have an HP Envy Beats edition. 8gb RAM, i7 quadcore processor. Exclusively used for DJing, so the thing never goes online. I run Traktor, have been running it for over a year, maybe two. Never had a problem playing out with it. I believe in this year and a half-two year time span I had two episodes of traktor freezing whilst in my little studio. I play a lot in my little spot, so only 2 freezes with the amount it gets played on, I thought was pretty damn good so far.

I7s in Windows pcs usually have issues with the SL1 and TTm57 something to do with usb 1.1 connectivity.

It will be fine with any of the newer Serato interfaces which are usb 2.0

I run a i5 hp laptop with traktor 2.5 no problem. Ive ran ableton and traktor at same time and no probs with cpu. Youll be fine. Not sure how well the new windows 8 is taking to our softwares tho.

If I remember correctly back when I was researching for laptops that particular processor does not play well with serato. Especially if you plan to do video. I went with a mbp.

It should run the software fine. My 1+ yr old HP Pavilion is doing great, no need to return it!
