Mbp Posted on: 19.12.2012 by Yuki Koeppel I'm buying a used macbook pro off craigslist, but was wondering if there are any years to avoid? not interested at the moment in going back past 2008, so 2008, 2009, 2010 (not too many available 2011s right now). I'll be upgrading the system RAM (max), 2 internal hard drives (SSD) with optibay so not too concerned about those items. Really just wondering about the year so I can have enough processor power as well as ensuring the USB works with Audio 6. Any thoughts? | |

Antonetta Wikel 20.12.2012 | Nice, Enjoy it. |
Yuki Koeppel 20.12.2012 | Awesome, thanks everyone. i picked up a 2011 i5 with SSD |
Rolanda Clodfelder 20.12.2012 | The 2009 unibody is as far back as I'd dare go - that was the first unibody, and they are so stupidly easy to work on/replace/repair stuff. IF you can though try to get an i5 model, you WILL notice the speed difference significantly. |
Antonetta Wikel 19.12.2012 | I'll disagree with the above and say my 17" Mid 2009 MBP is ROCK Solid. It's all about your budget and what, if anything, you want to do with the computer aside from DJing. I DJ AND do post production audio for film with protools on mine and have zero issues. With that said, I'd go with the latest model you can find that's within your budget. |
Harley Zitka 19.12.2012 | Anything newer than 2010 and you'll be fine. |
