I'm just curious as to whether or not I can close my laptop while Traktor is running and everything is still connected, like my MacBook to sound card to speakers etc. Obviously not decks will be playing everything will paused.

I'm using a 4 channel mixer, all 4 Traktor decks, and 2 channels I have vinyl plugged in too, so I'm just having a vinyl session, can I just close my laptop, (screen down) and leave it for a while?

I'm just worried it will blow my speakers or something?

Ah sorry man, ha. I'm just very paranoid when it comes to my gear :S don't want to close the lid and blow the speakers.

So to get this clear, you want to shut the lid of your laptop while you have vinyl playing? Faders down on 1&2 should be fine then as 3&4 would be switched to vinyl rather than line. No dangers there. During a gig I would advice using the app called Caffeine (as others have suggested) for stability reasons, at home it really shouldn't matter.

On OS X, there's an app on the store called Caffeine. It keeps your laptop awake when the lid is down. You won't blow any of your gear if your computer goes to sleep, but you may have some glitches when it wakes. It's unlikely to happen, but a possibility. NI recommend you run Traktor (especially Scratch) from a fresh reboot. That said, I've run Traktor without issue from sleep many times.

21.11.2013		The screen automatically turns off when you close the lid on any laptop as far as I'm aware, just make sure you make closing the lid have no effect and you can carry on running without having your laptop open.

21.11.2013		^ You can also just turn off the screen.

21.11.2013		If you are using a hardware mixer, turning down the channels or Master will prevent any sound getting from your laptop to your speakers, like pops from disconnecting things. Speakers should always be the first things to be turned off though.

21.11.2013		close the lid now. if your laptop goes into sleep mode, change it in the power settings
