Reply to Dramatic house build-ups

New to DJing and this community so bear with me! I play a lot of tech house and was looking for some tips on creating really interesting build-ups. I found this video and was interested to know if anyone can tell me how he creates the build up at 5.20? Or any other tips on things to play round with would be great. Thanks
