KW181 - Fit in car?
Posted on: 06.02.2013 by Albertina Fay
Any KW181 owners out there??

I am buying a set of k12's and a KW181 tomorrow. (YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

However, I am not able to get a hold of someone with a van or pickup and wanted to know if the sub would fit in my car. I own a 2003 Acura TL Type S.

I highly doubt it would fit in the car while it's boxed, but I am hoping it fits without the box. (Front Seat, Rear Seat, Trunk??). I don't want to waste a trip because it did not fit in the car.

Can anyone help me?

It feels dumb...right up until you find out something doesn't fit.

Haven't done a single one!!!! LOL....

I tore up News Lounge a few weeks ago ---- been playing there every once in a while to get out the house and jam a bit. I gotta hit you up. I'm believeing about moving to Downtown or Midtown soon. Need some reviews on places.

Post a pic once you pack the Acura this weekend.

So are you doing some mobile gigs now?

I was able to fit it in my backseat and had some extra space.

I have done mobile gigs here and there, throughout the last 4 years, but turned down most of them because I did not have a great/proper PA system. I am really excited and can't wait to set them up.

I am going to be testing them on Saturday at a park for my cousin's bridal shower/party. It's totally overkill, but it is perfect to test and see how they perform outdoors.

You could mock up something with cardboard. That's what I did when I was planning my current sound system. Tape measures really don't give the picture of the whole box at once.

Alternatively, you could run to your local home improvement megamart and rent a pickup for a couple hours...or hit up any car rental place for a pickup, minivan, or cargo van. For <$40 you would have no worries.

Thanks, Brock. I'll try it today before I make the trip. I'm afraid I don't have a box that. Just going to check with a measuring tape.

Update:

So I finally picked up the speakers. I was able to fit the KW181 in my back seat with no problem. However, I needed take it out of the box. (Box was flattened and fit in the back seat as well.

I was able to fit one K12 on the other half of my back seat, with the box. the other went in my trunk, also in the box.
I also bought the tote bags as well for the k12's. Now I need to get myself the cover the the KW181. (He didn't have any in stock.)

I'm one happy camper!!!!!!!!

I'll take some pictures on Saturday when I load them up in my car again. Stay tuned...
