Best midi controller solely for filter knob?
Best midi controller solely for filter knob? Posted on: 16.05.2013 by Mabelle Anstaett I have a traktor S2 and would get an S4 if I could afford it, but all I really need is a good dedicated filter. Does anyone know of a good controller with maybe just a few knobs on it? I just want something solid for sweeps. Nothing too expensive. Thanks!EDIT: I just bidded on a Traktor X1 on ebay. How would that work for filter purposes? | |

Janyce Henningson 17.05.2013 | Yeah they are cheap, and feel cheap but would probably be ok for filter/effects I was using a Nocturn with my VCI300 ages ago and that was good - it uses different pages so you can control all sorts with it as well. 300.jpg |
Dedra Kreinbring 17.05.2013 | I actually used an LPD8 for filters and EQ for a bit, but they don't have a a centre click and the knobs are really small. I did put chroma caps on, but they didn't feel very sturdy. To get round the no centre click, I mapped different pads to reset each parameter, and had them in soft take over. And they are |

Kellie Myrum 17.05.2013 | Filters in group mode are lacking the resonance regarding to the mixer ladder filter. |

Danae Dumler 17.05.2013 | You just need the knobs right? Here ya go: http://stretta.blogspot.com/2011/01/monome-arc.html |
Rodolfo Oriol 17.05.2013 | 1+ for the LPD8. I use it to control the loop functions in traktor s4 more smoother (instead of knobs I use pads). For the knobs on the LPD8 I control the frequency of different effects in ableton. For example, I use 2 knobs to control a white noise loop running in ableton. I put a autofilter on the channel that I map the 2 knobs to frequency and resonance. I also use it for special "home made" filters. It's very cheap tho. |
Thomas Dresel 17.05.2013 | just use shift+gain knob's or use it in the effects section!! |
Avis Lekic 17.05.2013 | You could go for a Novation Twitch (which are cheap for the amount of controls it has) and remap it, I use a Novation twitch to control effects in Ableton and Traktor |

Dedra Kreinbring 17.05.2013 | Hold shift and they become gain knobs. I did that for a bit, but hated the stepped encoder for a filter. I either use an effect, or a knob on my X1 |

Alphonso Deitchman 16.05.2013 | You could use the Sample knob in the middle of the S2 for filtering instead. Or use a filter from the FX banks. |
Chet Gatts 16.05.2013 | Akai LPD8. Cheap and does the job. Maybe some chroma caps for the knobs as they are kind a short. |
Mabelle Anstaett 16.05.2013 | How do you personally use it in your sets? |
Charline Dye 16.05.2013 | X1 will do what you want and much more. |
