Lets learn to finger drum together! (mpc, maschine, f1, etc.) Posted on: 11.05.2013 by Valeri Holderness What up!?Alot of people have wanted to learn to finger drum, but there aren't many resources for learning! I'm hoping that with this thread we can share our progress, techniques or just provide moral support I'll start it off! I've only been doing this for a few months, basically I take half note or quarter note sounds I like from different songs, throw them into the sample decks and try to cook something new out of it. In this little jam sesh, I have one column running a loop, two columns for synth playing and one column for my drum sounds. My immediate goal is it increase the number of layers and variation, which is likely going to require another f1. I'm hoping the remix decks become mapable soon so I can use one of my billion other midi controllers instead of having to buy another f1 -_- Your turn | |

| Valeri Holderness 18.05.2013 | +1 on f1 buttons being a little annoying to finger drum on. I don't know why NI chose to put click buttons on them instead of maschine like pads. I can't wait till they open up the remix decks to be mapped by other stuff. | Nereida Jasnoch 18.05.2013 | ^I have a maschine mk2, I'm trying mad zach 's technique, the pads on the maschine are a bit too big and thus too far apart from each other IMO. So I believe I'd prefer a smaller controller. I have the kick on pad 1 for my thumb and snare on pad 3 for my ring finger and my main hi hat on pad 6 for my middle finger. It is a bit of stretch but still do-able. |
| Jetta Drenzek 18.05.2013 | I imagine the MF is one of the best small finger drumming controllers out there with those lovely buttons, right? The F1 and Launchpad have a heavy handed clumsy feel to them. For the more serious stuff surely we'll need an MPC style controller or an MF. I mean, the OP video was cool, but it didn't show any improvisation, which I believe is the essence of finger drumming. |

Basically this without the blank spaces. Not exactly finger drumming but close enough .
