how to change the output channels for WHOLE OS (MAC)
Posted on: 21.05.2013 by Brain Ferrito
I'm having this issue where i want to use my audio 8 dj soundcard and headphones through it, but finally after managing to change the channel (used to be 1/2) to headphones output (7/8) on the soundcard, the sound is still going through the channels 1/2 when using browsers(chrome, firefox), where VLC works fine with channes 7/8. I guess i need to change the setting on the browser so that it address the output to the channel 7/8? how do i do that?

You did not say if its a MacBook or a Apple G5.

If its a G5....you can always just use it for this:

Click on the sound device you want to be the Output.

You will need to figure out how to them route to the headphone channel on your SoundCard.

I had a similar issue with the Audio 4.

Click on the Apple.

Click on System Prefs.

Click on Sound (Audio)

Click on Output.

Click on Audio 8.

That is to set the WHOLE MAC to use this sound card.

If its routing to your sound card by this time...then ALL your sound is going that way.

If you are not getting it via the Browser....then the Browser is sending it to the Default Out channels on your Soundcard.

You will need to change the routing there!
