Cheap CDJ's with a USB option
Posted on: 20.07.2013 by Jody Reebel
Was going to pick up 2x CDJ-200's, but I see they don't have a USB option, and I am not really keen on using CD's all the time. So do you guys know any cheap, $100-$300 New/Used CDJ's with a USB option, and or also Ethernet ability.

Thanks!

Ya, cause I believe even Madeon has used CDJ's before, even though, I believe he still rocks those dual launches pads, like a pro ^^ I used to not like CDJ's, and being the strong controller-ist, that I am, I have recently, grown more fawned of them. I have only used them a few times, like messing around with my friends, back stage at show, but I believe it's due time to get used to a pair, cause it's not the fact that, (Oh I couldn't use them), it would just feel uncomfortable, playing at a club, never using a pair before. To me it's kind of like using my friends S4, even though I have used an S4 before, I just don't want to mess up live, cause his mapping are different. Also there is just something about that professional feel, that CDJ's have.

Maybe for now I'll just 2 channel tape deck... loool, run my music through tape, that would be funny... I wonder if that would even be possible... and have like an option to spin back the tape, with a jog wheel... (Excuse me for just waking up.) ^^

To try and persuade him into using their products, so he does, and they look better as a company. It's all about marketing. When 99% of DJ's use Pioneer at big shows, excluding the few that use Allen & Heath, it makes others say "Oh I need to buy this, cause Zedd is using it."

I am not hating on NI, saying that the S2/S4, or the Z2 isn't worth the money, but coming from a controller user, I would rather have CDJ's than shell out $500 - $1K + on an S2/S4 or Z2...

I was never into CDJ's cause of the whole burning to CD thing, but since a lot of CDJ's have USB in, I'll use that. It would suck for your CD's to break on the way to a show, or have one get scratched *gulp* @__@

I also wonder if the CMP 800's have USB 3.0, and if that would make any difference with USB transfer speeds... I doubt it would... You could prob use USB 1.0, and it would still run as fast...

Yes, true, true, they usually have their own setups, even at local clubs, but even guys like Zedd and Porter Robinson, still use their S4's, but hooked into the festivals Mixer. I guess since they are more comfortable with their Traktor Controllers. I believe when I start getting more shows locally, I believe they will have their own setups, idk, I would have to see... But I do play like house parties, and anime conventions, so I for sure need to bring my own gear for that.

Ya that should work... a nice little 2 channel setup with 2x CMP 800's, and a X1500 would be nice... Beats the current controller I have at the moment. All I need to do now, is get a flight case, and I am set ^^

If you push your budget a little bit, you can buy the Denon X1600 for around 600-700.
How much usually are the X1500's - X1600's used?

If I am going to shell out $500 on those CDJ's, then I want something that is going to stand up to the quality of how much I am paying, so I guess around $300-$500 as well...

Ah yes, my bad, I totally forgot, CDJ's are soundcards in them selves. And if I wanted to, I could still use Traktor to DJ with the CDJ's...

Thanks bro! I'll do a quick search ^^

Ya Those looks pretty good, I was actually checking those out a few weeks back. Really like the black and red aesthetics too. For the price these would be really good... Seeing them for about $250 used, and if I take something into guitar center, and sell it, I can put even more money towards these CDJ's. A buddy of mine has some Stanton turntables, and uses timecode to mix, and they seem a pretty good brand. So for about $400-$500 these seem like a decent deal. All I do atm, is 2 channel mix, but if I do eventually 4 channel mix, it's not like I am blowing my wallet on CDJ 900's or something. I might have to get an accountant job, like my other buddy, he has 4x CDJ 900's, and a DJM-800 .

I'll look around for a mixer now, but I believe I'll get these CMP800's, cause I am already saving around that much anyways.

Have you guys ever looked at? or had experience, with the Behringer Mixers?, preferably, the DJX750?, I saw one a while back for $40-$60 on Craigslist used, and I thought about picking it up. Behringer seems like a pretty okay brand. I use MS20's to mix on for producing, and everything sounds good. I do like the way the DDM 4000 looks. Call me crazy, but I guess, even though I am an audiophile, I like having my gear look good, even though, no one is going to care, when I am at shows ^^

If I am shelling out around $500 on CDJ's, I am pretty sure I am can get a nice Mixer/Audio interface for around $300-$500 tops also.

Thanks again guys! you guys are awesome!

I only cared about the Ethernet thing, if per se, I forgot one of my USB sticks at home, or lost it, and I only had one at a show, I could link the first CDJ, to the second one, and just use one USB stick, for both CDJ's.

Pioneer CDJ 400's, seem to be about the same price as the Stantons used. I guess it comes down to whats features each one has/lacks, or what I am looking for in them. I'll have to compare features, but as long as it has a Jog wheel, USB, Cue, Play, and a Tempo fader, I am not that picky, on what else it has. Just the typical CDJ setup.

What. No. They're like 350 at most. You can buy used ones for 200-250.

There's nothing else that compares to the Stantons in the US. Reloop isn't sold here.

The only ones I know of in that price bracket are the Numark NDXes, which are RIDICULOUSLY plasticky (and rattly), and the Reloop RMP-1. Neither offer MIDI support though, just USB mass storage.
