So DVS "Pretty Lights" new album drops today! What does everyone believe of the new album? Love the new direction he went with, about recording all the sounds from known musicians and instruments to random people in music shops.

You can find and download the album and much more from his label here for FREE: http://www.prettylightsmusic.com/therecordlabel/

Yup, yup! Got mine signed. I was in Palm Springs visiting my fam, found out about the show last minute and got there right when the show started.
Nice!

I'd be there if I could. Last free thing I went to at Amoeba was to see Numark. I got there late and was disappointed so I started digging to cheer me up when I noticed the guy to my left was Akil and the guy on my right was Cut Chemist of J5 fame. I don't get star struck often but I kinda felt like a 7 year old girl standing next to Justin Beiber, heh. So go, you never know who'll will show up.

The line actually only had about 30-40 people in it! I was digging during the performance instead of standing in the crowd. Got my hands on the vinyl for $33, then I picked up some new releases and the Zomby 4LP set

I didn't look close enough to see what all was included with the vinyl. That package looks awesome. Def. will be ordering this today.

Have a listen to other artists under PL record label. They all have that PL sound that makes his label stand out but all do it in there on tasteful way. Gramatik, Paul Basic, SuperVision, and then Break Science is a different kind of approach with Adam Deitch (use to drum for PL, drums for Lettuce, Break Science, John Scofield etc.) on drums and Borahm Lee on the decks but we'll worth checking out if you haven't already.

Other than people on his label

Gramatik

Griz

Like some kind of Dj Voltron they combine to form Grizmatic. I don't believe they're as good as PL but it's a similar sound.

Wait till you get it, you'll see. I downloaded the record and a bunch of other stuff off that site thanks to this thread (had never heard of pretty lights before) and loved it all. Still wasn't sold on dropping that much on the vinyl until I saw it at Amoeba yesterday. It's a full on coffee-table book that happens to have vinyl records in it. Beautiful package.

Aswell don't get it twisted Vince (pretty Lights) gets down on turntables and can scratch like a beast.

I recognize the drummer from the band Lettuce (Adam Deitch) and a couple other guys in the studio:

Griz and Gramatik both throw down. Got to see Gramatik live twice and It is a killer show.

I would also recommend manic focus. Recently some publication did an article on artists similar to pretty lights. It was an interesting read, I'll see if I can find it.

That's awesome man your def. in for a treat of some amazing music. Glowing In the Darkest Night is by far my favorite album by him, but not one of his albums I dislike by any means.

Yeh I'm on the same page with ya for that vinyl. Maybe try to catch it on eBay discounted after it's been out for awhile. Hopefully he gets on a roll like he did a couple years back and puts out a few ep's after this. I'll def. take this new album though lovin that Pretty Lights groove!
