Low volume on mixer faders
Posted on: 25.07.2013 by Marcelina Hanaway
Noticed that on my mixer the volume really isn't noticeable until about 80% up on the faders. And at that point, it's kinda like just throwing in a track or killing it really fast. I unplugged and replugged the rca's from the mixer to my CDJs, but still have the same problem. Any idea what it could be?

If it feels different to the other then perhaps the fader curve has been modified on this one (or more likely the other) - I believe you can do it internally...?

I always use the gain/trim whatever the mixer so have never noticed it, but I haven't used a 92 that often tbh matey.

Thats because it isn't an issue

I really would refrain from altering your mixer to change the fader curve - which, as mentioned, is apparently possible. But that will only lead to trouble if you ever play out on an unmodified 92

I'll check out some tutorials later. But honestly, I don't know what more I can do at this point. I messed around with every single knob on the mixer and nothing helped. It's strange since I tested it beforehand and didn't have this issue.

This image is for distance but just imagine the distance is the fader position and time is volume.

Linear fader are used on midi controllers and some mixers.
Exponential (logarithmic) are used on 92.

How could you not have had the problem? All unmodded Xone 92's == Logarithmic fader curve with gain on the fader.

Edit: Thread on 62/92 fader curves, with confirmation from A&H.

It's irking me since this isn't my first xone 92, and never had this problem. I also have a friend who's a resident DJ at a club with the 92. He doesn't have this problem either. The only thing I can believe of is that at the same time I got the mixer, I changed the power surge. That seems pretty unlikely though.

The knob is for the cross-fader I believe?
Ages since I went on a 92 but I believe Padi is right - it's logarithmic - so most of the volume comes in at the top.

Just messed around with the fader curve knob but didn't see any change at all. Am I missing something?

I would imagine it's adjustable on a Xone... If not let me know so I don't buy a 92 lol.

It's a Xone 92.

*Looked up how to adjust the fader curve. Will try when I get home. Thanks, guys.

It's called a logarithmic curve, some mixers allow you to change this setting.

yep, thats called the fader curve. what mixer do you have? on some mixers it can be changed.
