Mixing Funk/Disco Tracks.

Hi all.

Just need a few pointers on mixing Funk/Disco/Funky breaks type stuff (Think--D-Cup/Tahuna breaks/Jamarioquai/Kolombo/Neighbour etc)

Whilst a few of tracks i have are nice to mix with, in that they have some intro's/Outro's/Mid sections of plain beats (the more housey stuff), some of them can be quite busy, especially with a bass guitar and that funky 'Wap' Sound right at the start and throughout the tune that can make the mixes quite clunky and messy when trying to blend them.

Any tips?

Sometimes you just can't mix 2 tracks together and that's OK. Not every mix has to be flawless to keep a party dancing
Well put. Some tracks just don't work sometimes.

I find just listening to it non-stop (for any genre) just gets you completely in the groove with it.

Dimitri from Paris is one of those artists that just yeah, https://soundcloud.com/dfp .
A Night at the Playboy Mansion and the rest of the Playboy mansion "series" if you will was something I grew up on. Worth checking if you aren't familiar.

For older tracks, look into warping part of the track to make it less of a evening mare to mix over 8/16/32 bars.

Be patient and don't rush transitions. Find a sweet spot and loop that sucker.

Don't keep both highs at the same time and use a lot of filtering.
