Need help deciding on a setup.
Posted on: 07.08.2013 by Selma Throop
I have recently been messing around with a djm 600 and a pair of cdj 800s that my friends dad let me borrow. I have decided that cds are not for me. I was wondering if i should purchase a traktor kontrol s2 or if i should buy a xsession pro mixer and a midi fighter spectra. Everyone seems to be using s2's and s4's, so i believe it would be kinda of cool using something different. Your thoughts on this setup?

What do you want to be able to do with the music you play?

To be realistic the CDJs would be a great place to learn phrasing, EQing, Level control, Cue sytem, Song Selection...

You said you "just messed around"...
otra vez...

Keep in mind that you'll also need to buy a soundcard to the list of items you put in your first post.

Both of these are simply controllers.
The M-Audio controller is kinda cool but it's essentially a toy(not to say it can't be very good either!) yet don't discredit the joys of starting with cheap fun gear and building up to bigger and better things if you get serious about djing.

S2 sounds better, you will learn alot with it. and then move on to cdj later

I am asking because i have to give the cdjs back to the person i was borrowing them off soon. He let me borrow them until i got the basics down.

These are my favorite. Someone comes and asks for advice. Then never revisits the thread.

Are you asking what would be easier than mixing with the cdj setup that you currently have? I'd say either one, if you're using sync.
