What a choad. The dude makes tons of dough off of the punters who actually pay so see his cake throwing farce of a DJ set and doesn't even have the decency to pay for his software? Isn't his dad the owner of the Benihana franchise? Frickin' rich kids and their silver spoons...

The company that makes Sylenth1 should give this guys a free copy imo. They produce great music using it, show them many times on social networks, interviews, whatever and are great publicity for the company. Why not?
deadmau5 wasn't talking about himself in that tweet. He was referring to Avicii who ALSO uses a cracked version of Sylenth as shown in his In The Studio feature video:

I highly doubt if this guy even knows how a DAW works, let alone how to download and install VSTs, pirated or not.
After watching this, I'd have to say this is the most likely scenario.

My thoughts exactly hahahahaha

People are giving him too much credit, aoki isn't capable of pirating and such.

I believe it but as a top name he should be more responsible.

But Aoki doesn't bother me.
In todays age, there are dj's + there are entertainers.
I prefer someone with skills + a wicked set, but it just doesn't always work out that way.

1. Building software (particularly sophisticated software like a soft-synth) requires a lot of time and skill. If you've never written code, it's way way way more work than you can even imagine.

2. The cost of making of said software is very expensive, hence, it's a commercial product and not free.

Using pirated copies is theft. Plain and simple.

if software companies want to go after someone....go after someone who has tons of money, like Aoki. Not some broke kid living in his moms basement making tracks with a pirated VST. haha

In fact, if _I_ was one of his sound guys, I'd almost certainly tell him that I need $200 to buy a plugin to make a new track sound awesome, then go and spend the money on hookers; because if he ever got caught I just deny everything and then there'd be an article about him using pirated software on pulseradio.
