Alex O’Rion hails from The Netherlands and is signed to the Terminal-4 label where Richard Durand made his name. If early results are anything to go by then Alex has all the right attributes to follow in the footsteps of Durand with his first productions over the past 18 months blowing up in playlists of the trance DJing elite and his own DJ career taking off with performances around Europe.
The Alex O’Rion sound can best be described as a mix of trance, techno and electro and first shot to prominence in 2008 with his ‘Release The Beast’ single getting picked up by Richard Durand and hammered everywhere that summer including on his BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix. Labels sat up and took note, and it wasn’t long before Alex was signed up to the Terminal-4 imprint under the umbrella of the Black Hole Recordings label empire.
Such a quick signing to a label powerhouse was a clear display of belief in Alex’s ability and he repaid the faith in 2009, first by delivering the massive ‘Fragile Goods’ single, and then by dropping one of the biggest underground dancefloor destroyers of the summer in shape of the distinctively titled ‘Like A Box Of Fluffy Ducks’, a track which was initially championed once again by Richard Durand, but soon every self-respecting A-list DJ such as Tiësto, Armin van Buuren, Paul van Dyk, Sander van Doorn, Ferry Corsten, Judge Jules and Eddie Halliwell were all hammering the track in their DJ sets and radio shows worldwide. Further dancefloor bombs have dropped from the studio in recent months in the shape of ‘Stargeezer’ and the ‘Jellyfish’ / ‘Lush’ EP which have all displayed the trademark big room riffs, razor sharp beats and rapturous crowd reactions that Alex O’Rion is fast building his reputation on.
Alex O’Rion is equally adept at rocking crowds with his DJ sets and his dynamism behind the decks, track selection and ability to drop exclusive tracks and mash-ups from his own studio gives him a unique and in demand sound. Having already left his mark on the Dutch dance scene with appearances at Lexion, Club Odeon and the Rock It Festival, Alex has recently spread his wings with guest appearances at numerous leading European nights including Gallery at Ministry Of Sound in London, England, Lush! in Northern Ireland and Euforia Festival in Poland, while also being selected as the official support DJ for Richard Durand on his ‘In Search Of Sunrise’ tour.
Clearly an artist heading for big things, Alex O’Rion joined the star studded Integrity roster of DJ/Producers at the end of 2010 and has plenty of big projects lined up already to make sure 2011 kicks off in a big way, including new singles ‘Jumper’ / ‘Change The Pace’, a full artist album due for release on Black Hole in spring, plus a new radio show / Podcast launching called ‘The Bigger Room’.
