A Sit Down With DJ Sasha Carassi

A Sit Down With DJ Sasha Carassi
Sasha Carassi is a veteran of Italian-Neapolitan techno, owner of Globox and Phobiq Records, as well as a prolific producer and holder of the best dance floors of the genre. It has made its way to mozzichi in this world so difficult and now discredited. It has earned its place among the best line-ups, being part of the best festivals along with the best DJs.

"I do not consider myself a great artist, but a person who still has much to learn. I can still say that I am a person who is sensitive, fussy and determined."

Tell us how your passion for electronic music was born.. My passion was born attending the "Dinamik Area", a very famous place in the 90s. There I was lucky enough to see the most famous international artists of those years perform, falling in love with what would become my job. Who are some of your biggest musical influences? I grew up with Pink Floyd, Queen, and the Doors but I’m also a collector of Funk music, 70’s / 80’s, and obviously of House Music. I can say I have always been inspired by a mix of Disco, Funk, House and Rock. Would you describe yourself as serious or do you like the crowd to have fun when you play? I love having fun with crowd … I like feeling the vibe as old clubber and I like looking at dancefloor, trying to understand what people feel… Tell us about your studio, which sequencers do you use? With what hardware/software do you mainly work? What machine would you consider the best part of your kit? I stopped using analog instruments from more than 10 years, today my setup includes Ableton Live,a big bunch on VST but now i’m in love with NI Maschine. Your sound is very distinctive and it definitely edges to the darker, more industrial sound of techno. How long did it take for you to discover ‘your’ sound and what tips do you have for any newcomers out there looking to break into the techno scene? The music is the mirror of the soul! I’ve always tried to convey my mood through the music that I composed, it wasn’t a forced process but completely natural. I can also advise not to try to imitate others but to always do very “personal” things. This is the only way to be original and not trivial! Your latest release, ‘Drop The Soul’ is now available on your Phobiq imprint. How do you approach a new production? Do you have an idea at the start of a project or do you just jam until you find something you like? Usually I have nothing planned; I love to lose myself in the sounds and the grooves. A fundamental thing to me is to still be a clubber. I love to party especially in Ibiza and I get inspiration from the dance floor. I think is very important to understand personally what people want. What are your future plans? There is something forthcoming on Phobiq, or your other releases that you would like to tell us about? We have many good stuff coming up,the remixes ep of my “Dark Pride” with Rino Cerrone and Jerome Sydenham, tracks and remixes from Joey Beltram, The Advent, Electric Rescue, Bodyscrub, Tomy Declerque and Jewel kid to name a few.. What advice to young emerging artists who undertake this world? Not to sell yourself to stupid promises like "Attack posters and sell tickets that will make you play 30 min", but to follow your ambitions. https://soundcloud.com/sasha-carassi/sasha-carassi-crobar-buenos-aires-1152018
