"Every day there's something that comes up and it's very similar to music—you have a dream or a goal that you want to accomplish with your music career and there's always something thrown in your way."
In the past you've done a whole gamut of ways to release music -- albums, EP's and singles. Which one did you like the best, which one did you think worked the best? That's an interesting question. I don't know about the EP's. I've got some favorite records how about that? Well one of them which is funny enough, comes out tomorrow, "Blackout." Secondly the trance record "Still With Me." It was written as a ballad initially as a down-tempo piece with the set-up lines remolded. Third on the list would probably be "Now or Never." Do you feel that you as people have changed a great deal since Metamorphic I, what with all of the success and fame? I do think we have changed, but in a great and healthy way. Our personalities are the same and always will be, but of course, we've really REALLY learned quite a bit, and you know us, we love to learn, get our hands on it and try it out! The idea of fame doesn't nor will ever phase us as we don't take for granted where we are and are so thankful for the support to have even gotten us this far. We will always know where we came from. How would you describe your sound to our readers who may not be familiar with SJ? I feel like a lot of the stuff I play is House/Future House. I tend to play a little bit of everything in my sets. The music that I'm working on right now is all over the place. I'm a songwriter so I come from a lyrically melodic world and even when I play around with different genres I still listen to the melody and chord structure. Which EP, I, II, or III, is your favorite? As mentioned a couple questions back, just as our growth has developed, even though we have a few of our own favorites, I really feel Metamorphic III is my favorite! How has Tritonal changed over time? Well, our musical interests have grown and cross pollinated with other styles over the years. It’s quite natural for creative people to want to create new things, I’d say. Initially, we were hyper focused on records that were built for festivals and night clubs, and over the years we've slowly become more well-rounded producers. We've been fortunate to experience songwriting sessions with different writers and artists, and [we] have switched up styles and tempos in order to keep things fresh in the studio. One thing that feels consistent in every record we write is that emotional connectivity. We do strive, regardless of style, to bring the feels! You guys are living proof that hard work and dedication really do pay off. Tell me about the shift in your sound. Do you see any diversity in where you`re currently at with your production and where you want to be in the future? Well we love to be creative. I mean, we started out with trance- like real, full on trance! And of course we want to branch out and do different things or else we'd just go crazy. So now we're in the EP's and we're doing a lot of experimental sounds. We evolving and we're growing in our sound every day. If you each had any advice to give to up and coming artists out there, what advice would that be? A lot of people seem to have a huge focus on being a deejay and performing. That is really great, but you also want to be able to master your craft as a producer. Focus on producing and learning how to actually create. That to us is extremely important. https://soundcloud.com/tritonalmusic/tritonal-x-sultan-shepardA Sit Down With DJ Tritonal
