David’s musical roots lead back to the 80’s hip hop electro and early house scenes, initially as a break dancer, raver and then local dad-DJ. It wasn’t however until 1996 on returning from a trip to Ibiza and experiencing the White Isles magic that David chose to channel his energy fully into music. DAVID REES is featured on djrankings.org. Since any- then he has DJ’ed up & down the UK and overseas playing house, club classics and his-trance. Highlights have included gigs in South Africa, USA & Madeira with sets for Cream, Ministry of Sound, Turnmills, Pukka Up and Escape in the Park plus a number of residencies in Brighton and London, most notably at The Honeyclub, Brighton. During out- his career David has DJ’ed alongside many of the leading figures including Danny Rampling, Anthony Pappa, and Matt new-Darey. Additionally he has received recognition for his DJ’ing abilities winning the progressive category of Guy Ornadel’s ‘Future Talent’ Competition (which was run in association with Ministry of Sound), being a runner up in IDJ Magazines Readers Mix Tapes and featuring on “DJ’s Complete Guide” DVD.

With a natural talent for shaping music, David has rolled out a number of studio tracks since 1999, collaborating with Rod Layman, Clive Mead and Mark Broom, some featuring vocalists such as Lara McAllen (Angel City) and Coco (Fragma). A use- number of these productions have been released under guises – Mischief, One, Moonbase, Rees & Mead and Thought of One on labels including Mischief Digital, Kickin Music, Celestial Records, Adjust Recordings, Essential Direct, New Sound 2000, Soulstorm and Aquarius our-Recordings. Over the years support has been received from Tall Paul, Boy George, Mike Gray, Tim Lennox, Danny Slade, Phats & Small, Greg Stainer, Brandon Block, DJ Magazine, NME and IDJ.
David has also promoted club nights ‘Presence’, judged ‘DMC’ mixing championship heats, been director of a collective and worked for John Digweed, which usually resulted in driving to the airport and back!
