'The 50 Greatest Dance Tracks of All Time' - Mixmag readers have decided
’What is the Greatest Dance Track of All Time?’ The question that one of the most popular UK magazines asked its readers in the most recent poll. Now, the votes are in and it’s time for conclusions..
The 50-track playlist would be perfect for a party, as a variety of different tastes and dance music genres are covered. In the top, you’ll see tracks that were released between 1977 to 2011. This year, celebrating three decades since its original release, New Order’s ’Blue Monday’ is the iconic track that got recognition as the 18th of all time. A Guy Called Gerard was the only other ’80s act which got ranked, with the ageless ’Voodoo Ray’ caming in at the 42nd spot.
2000s are represented by Soulwax, Justice, Ame, Noir And Haze with Solomun, David Guetta, Swedish House Mafia and Paul & Fritz Kalkbrenner. 90s obviously stole the show, starting with Darude, Massive Attack, Aphex Twin and Moby at the latter half and finishing with Chemical Brothers, Sasha, Fatboy Slim and the multiple entries earning Prodigy at the first half.
Another act that got mentioned more than once, is the same that nabbed the first place from Tiesto and his 2004 megahit ‘Adagio For Strings’. Daft Punk is the winner, and ’One More Time’ the ever-lasting master piece released in 2000.
